To decongest the flow of goods caused by the development of the airport area of Liege, in Belgium, a new roadway has been created and opened to the traffic a few weeks ago.
To secure this new section, mainly used by heavy vehicles, more than 3400 ml of the Tertu crashworthy TM40 barrier have been installed.
This wood and steel VRS has been selected for :
- Its technical performances – level of containment H2 (the unic steel backed timber system of the market crash-tested and certified with the specifications H2 W5 offering ASI A)
- Its wooden appearance offering an aesthetic within the industrial zone
- Its environmental properties – carbon dioxyd storage and recycling of all the elements
For this occasion, this already CE marked guardrail is also in the process to be certified according to BENOR, the Belgian standardization.
By sections, the guardrail is equipped of Motorcycle Protection Systems to protect two-wheels vehicles drivers. A wooden rear handrail has been installed on the guardrail to improve the safety of the cyclists who ride on the associated bicycle path.
This major project has been led by PONCELET SIGNALISATION, the installation has been performed by DE GROOTE : two historical partners in Belgium.
